The Dirty Dozen

The gritty World War Two action flick starring Lee Marvin as the head of a team of death row prisoners who are railroaded into performing a suicidal raid on a heavily fortified German base. Hey, they were scheduled for death anyway - what have they got to lose? For sheer spectacle and bravado, The Dirty Dozen is a joy to behold, and with a cast including Charles Bronson, Donald Sutherland and Ernest Borgnine you can almost taste the testosterone. The film was nominated for four Oscars, going on to win one for sound effects - that'll be all those explosions, then.
